OU AMU Army RetiredSara is a retired Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army, with a strong focus on prioritizing people, purpose, and organizational growth through human resource collaboration, servant leadership, and resilience. She served as a Army Musician with the 4th United States Army Band and the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels” Band, and as Production Assistant with the United States Army Soldier Show. Sara had the distinct honor of being selected as the Army Band Sergeant Major for the United States Army Reserve, where she provided leadership, spearheaded innovative changes, established structure, and developed policies for a team of highly talented musicians, bridging the gap between America’s military and the American public.
Sara's 38-year military career has encompassed a wide range of teaching and mentorship roles, including serving as a Drill Sergeant for new enlistees and as a Drill Sergeant Leader for those training to become Drill Sergeants. She oversaw veteran combat observer controller trainers at the mobilization platform. A strategic plan emphasizing empowerment and adaptability positions one as a proactive force, driving transformation and effectively managing transitions. Sara has successfully transitioned from her role as a senior federal civilian, where she excelled as a Supervisory Staff Administrator responsible for more than 30 subsidiaries across a 19-state region. She graduated with distinction with a bachelor's degree in administrative leadership and organizational development. Furthermore, she earned her Master of Public Administration, focusing on the essential role of cultural humility and the powerful effects of emotional and cultural intelligence, which inform her holistic approach to organizational development. A woman Army veteran, she has fully embraced the ethos of courage, self-sacrifice, integrity, and strength of character. She believes in lifelong learning. |
